OK. I'm retired , so I've spent quite a bit of time puzzling about ad free episodes on the substack. I'm ready to try a different tack. If you are getting ad free episodes, what ap are you using? I upgraded to a paid subscription of pocketcast and I'm still getting ads sometimes. I've never had trouble before pocketcast, the free version, before.
I am so sorry about this. We had a meeting with substack, and I think we ironed out the problem today. I made the last extended episode ad-free. But if that doesn't solve it, please DM me for a refund. Apologies! —Liz
Liz and Andrew - something weird is happening: my feed now has ads in it, and this episode is not in it yet at all. When I try to generate a custom link, it seems to give me only the public link.
I know others have experienced the same. Did you perhaps change something on your side? Is there now a higher bar to paid patronage to get the full versions?
I'm having the same problem. Getting ads and no extra content in the last week or so. Deleting and resubscribing doesn't seem to do anything. I was wondering if they are focused only on the Patreon subscribers now.
NO! We are definitely not focused on one platform. We are trying to get the RSS situation worked out with Substack, and in the meantime we made the longer, ad-free feed available to everyone. So sorry for the confusion.
Came here to say that. I've never been able to get the ads out of the Apple podcast stream, don't see this one at all, can't get the premium content on Patreon, and fully don't understand--do I have to pay on every platform to get all the content, and ad free? (This is not the only pod where I paid on substack and get no apparent benefits. Although to be fair, I did get my name read, for what it's worth.
I did get ad-free episodes up until last week, so it seems like something changed here. (I had issues with it when setting up initially, but deleting and getting a new link from Substack took care of it back then. This time, even when I get a new link, it still has the same issues, including that it doesn't have this latest episode.)
Liz working solo was great while it lasted. Maybe I’m insufficiently sophisticated to appreciate Andrew’s sense of humor as deeply as Andrew does.

I'll be OK. If I could move over to patreon, it would be great. Trying to figure this out has been interesting. But, I do not want a refund.
Can't wait to listen!

How do you get a new link? The original one I tried never worked.
it's in the settings for the channel.
OK, tried again, we'll see if it works this time! Thanks!
