I can't get over how overtly evil the republican party gets to be under the guise of religion and still get away with it in the voting booth.

I may need a tinfoil hat. I can't help thinking that the random person wandering from one part of the medical facility into the IVF facility, opening up storage and breaking stuff seems like a set up to get a case before the nut jobs of the Alabama Supreme Court.

More seriously. What are the insurance requirements for operating an IVF facility? Do the contracts between the facility and the clients not include terms on liability for damages to the stored embryos?

Thank you so much for this analysis, but I was surprised as hell to hear your guest, Ellen, suggest that nearly everyone knows someone who has been through IVF and for you, Liz, to agree.

I think you're pretty recklessly disregarding how IVF can be more common in some communities than others.

ETA: When Liz says that she doesn't have a lot of sympathy with these parents as they knew what would happen, what they were asking the SCA to do, I am SO FUCKING RIGHT THERE.

About the 3 clinics of 7 who have closed, do we know what % of all IVF procedures provided in the state is provided by those 3 clinics? The smallest 3 clinics might only take away 20% of services or something, while the largest 3 might take away far more than 50% of the capacity for fertility treatment in the state. I'm just wondering what we're talking about here.

Good question. But it sounds like they’re thinking this is just the start, that the others will follow suit, because their position is untenable under this decision.
