He should be allowed to attend Barron’s graduation if he can do 3 of the 5 following: pick Barron out of a lineup, name 3 classes he’s taking, name his school, name a friend of Barrons, name what colleges he’s applied to.

Calling Stormy a liar is what cost him millions to E Jean, what are the chances she could file a defamation claim as well? In describing his "privates" there were specifics that I do not recall having been made public before, indicating a personal knowledge. Couldn't he be made, ala Michael Jackson, to strip down to corroborate the victims description of his anatomy? Melania knows too, although it might require accessing a distant memory.

I know this is two months later, but perhaps you'll get a notification of this reply.

You were 100% correct that Trump's strategy was going to be to have his lawyers essentially call Stormy Daniels a liar. That backfired rather spectacularly for them.

Parties have immunity from defamation for the things that they say in court, as well as for truthfully reporting on what was said in court -- but not for what they say in public that's ancillary to the court proceedings. Trump raised that argument in the E. Jean Carroll cases ("reporting privilege") and lost.

I have no doubt that Stormy Daniels could file a defamation case if she so chose based on Trump's out-of-court statements about her. I don't think that's what she wants to do, though (and I think she might have difficulty proving damages stemming from said defamation).

Thank you so much for following up, and the validation, hopefully justice will continue to prevail. I do hope those brave women who brought their truths to the stand are able to move on with joy in their lives and I wish the opposite for tffg.

Logical outcome for a man who always considered himself "the smartest guy in the room", and who is endowed with a *Louis the Sun King* complex. and with that attitude, it's small wonder that all the cases that have to date gone before judge or a jury, he's lost big-time. tRump's lawyers just know they can't stop his conduct in court, the pay is good, so why not play along to get along.

Todd Blanche in particular sticks out, as he has represented tRump in several cases pending, and has seen a once-promising career go down the pan....Jesus, man, where's your sense of integrity and respect for the law?

So far, Judge Merchan appears to be the answer to the question, “Why doesn’t the court treat Trump like any other accused?” Slower, perhaps, but in the long run, the same.

Saw a lot of howling about the $1000 fine but it can and will go up as Trump escalates. He has said he’d like to be jailed for contempt for the political hay he’d make of it, but will he really go that far?

I hope so. I can’t believe most people would see that as helping his reputation or campaign.

Liz - you are a genius writer - I do miss the Wonkette pieces with gems like "Yeeted to the sun" haha and some of the comments and descriptive sentences, but I really appreciate that you bring it to the layman's level, without talking down or over the head - keep up the great work.

Well Judge, if the Tangerine Tool can't keep his chicken bucket orifice closed, you always have the Julius Hoffman option. He's already compared himself to Nelson Mandela, let him add Bobby Seale to his political prisoner comparisons.

Couple of things--my head exploded when two of my most favorite lawsplainers talked for an hour on the Hunter Biden case.

I also made a comment on the Wonkette about wondering if you had sniffed out an angle on the Great Trump Fart-a-thon. 🤭. Sorry, I'll show myself out...

Liz - Probably overly nitpicking, but my 3 years of Latin in high school plus my 3 years of law school compel me to point out that "de minimus" is incorrect, even though it’s a common error made by many lawyers. At this late date, I can’t tell you what declension governs this 😄, but the correct term is "de minimis". John
